Purpose and Subject
Neighborhood is a social and cultural structure and dynamic process that contributes to the socialization of the person, can be transformed into a friendship relationship, social values can be kept alive, and nurturing and cooperation are naturally occurring.
Neighborhood has changed with modernization. Migration movements that took place for different reasons, new lifestyles and habits brought about by our time, industrialization and new urbanization models, the spread of mass media influenced neighborhood relations. This change has also created new neighborhood, friendship, sharing, and communication alternatives while increasing the loneliness of the person. In previous periods, we could often talk about the neighborhood of nearby houses in the neighborhood, but now we speak about neighborhoods on the level of public housing areas and multi-story apartment buildings, or we can complain about the lack of neighbors in these areas.
Neighborhood is not only the name of a condition of a person who is concerned with the human person; states, cities, peasants, cultures, geographies, climates, valleys, animals, even living and non-living beings. Because neighborhood is a condition of “being close”.
Neighborhood is also an important title for religions and legal systems. For example, Islam religion refers to neighboring right. Prophet Muhammad Aleyhisselam’s statement, “I believe almost neighbors are neighbors heirs,” emphasizes the importance of the neighbor’s faith.
Within the framework of the above ideas, the theme of the Cekmekoy International Short Film Competition will be realized as “Neighborhood”.
